Seargent in the war of 1812. In 1830 he moved with his family from Goochland County in Virginia to MO where he acquired 3000 acres near Carrollton. It was on this land which came to be called Herndon Hill, that he established his plantation. He was a slave holder who treated his slaves well. To do otherwise, (according to his granddaughter Anna Otey) he felt would have been a poor business practice tantamount to misusing expensive machinery or other equipment. He was buried at Carrollton, and his grave bears a marker indicating his service in 1812.

William married ¹ Martha Henry Fontaine, daughter of Col. Patrick Henry Fontaine and Nancy Dabney Miller, on 31 Mar 1824 in Henry Co., VA. Martha was born ² on 9 Mar 1798 in Greenwood, Henry Co., VA. She died ³ on 20 Dec 1881 in Linneus, Linn Co., MO and was buried ^{4, 5} in Old Linneus Cem., Linneus, Linn Co., MO. Martha was counted in a census in 1880 in Linneus, Linn Co., MO.

Perkins, Mrs Martha H. widow of the late Rev. Wm. Perkins, of the MO Conf. died at the home of her Son, Dr. E F Perkins in Linneus MO 20th Dec 1881. She was born in Henry Co., Va. Mar. 29 1798. When quite young, she was left an orphan but found a home with her Grandmother, who was the eldest Daughter of Patrick Henry, the renowned patriot. At the age of Seventeen she was married to Major Overton Redd, who died 2 years after their marriage. She was married to Rev. William Perkins March 31, 1824, in the state of Virginia and in the fall of 1838 moved to Howard Co., Mo. and settled near Glasgow. In 1853 her husband entered the itinerant ranks of the Mo. Conf. He endured the privations of the itinerant ranks in the Mo. Conf. until 1871 when he died. She raised 8 children to maturity two of whom preceded her in death. Leaves four sons and two Daughters.

Perkins. Mrs Martha H, her Daughter Mrs Mryn Stephensen writes that she wishes to correct one or 2 errors in the above obiturary. She was not left an orphan, her Mother dying at a quite advanced age but at the earnest solicitation of her Grandmother, her Parents reluctantly consented for her to live with her.

56. Isaac Otey Perkins II ^{1, 2} (Archelaus Mitchell , John , William , William ) was born on 27 May 1802 in Goochland Co., VA. He died on 15 Apr 1862 in Fluvanna, Co., VA. Isaac emigrated in 1836 from Goochland Co., VA.

I. O. Perkins paid real estate taxes in Goochalnd from 1829 until 1836. He then moved to Fluvanna County where he paid personal taxes from 1836 until his death and real estate taxes from 1846 until his death. He had considerable land and personal items including a barouche, a clock, a looking glass (mirror) and 453 acres four miles southeast of the courthouse on Cary Creek. He is listed in the Fluvanna Census of 1850. Two of his sons, Nathaniel and Isaac (Jr), fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Nathaniel was killed early in the war and Isaac served in the 5th Virginia Cavalry, Fitzhugh Lee's division.

Isaac married (1) Sally Ann Bowles on 8 Feb 1825 in Goochland Co., VA. Sally was born on 13 Apr 1807. She died on 24 Sep 1829.
