Miss N. Ledbetter Answers Final Call
Miss Nancy Ledbetter, a resident of the Gridley district for 71
years died at her home on WIlson street Sunday. [Apr., 7 1929]
Miss Ledbetter was born September 17, 1850, and was aged 78 years,
5 months and 20 days. She came to California from Missouri, the
state in which she was born, when 7 years of age, and has resided
here continously since. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. J. B.
Murphy of Texas, and a brother, G. W. Ledbetter of Gridley.
Funeral services are to be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon
from the Block Funeral Home with Rev. E. W. Dettweiler preaching
the funeral sermon. Internment will be made in the Gridley-Biggs
cemetery.

Benjamin Franklin Ledbetter
"Frank" was born 1
on 18 Jul 1857 in Oroville, Butte Co., CA. He died
2 on 5 Nov 1917 in Gridley, Butte Co., CA from
rupture of arteries of heart and was buried
3 on 7 Nov 1917 in Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, Butte
Co., CA. Frank was employed as farmer - foreman for the Ord Ranch
in Gridley, Butte Co., CA.
WELL KNOWN GRIDLEY MAN DIED SUDDENLY
Frank Ledbetter, a pioneer resident of Gridley, above 60 years of
age, dropped dead Monday night at about 9 o'clock, while in the
bath room of the residence a mile north of town. Deceased was born
near Oroville, and had resided here practically all his life. The
cause of death is thought to have been heart disease. Coroner
Johnson was summoned and held an inquest. Deceased is survived by
his widow, three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Evans and Miss N.
Ledbetter of Gridley, Mrs. James Murphy of Texas, and a brother,
Washington Ledbetter, of Gridley.
The funeral will occur from the home of William Roof, a mile and a
half northeast of Gridley, Wednesday, November 7, at 2 o'clock p.
m., and the burial will take place in Live Oak cemetery. |
