1. Jean de la Fontaine was born about 1375 in FRA.

Believed to have descended from Jean de la Fontaine, who fought in the First Crusade under Godfrey, at Jerusalem in 1099, and who established the de la Fontaine family at Fontenay, anciently prominent in Normandy, Anfou, Maine, Poitou, and Picardy which maintains descent from Arthur, Duke of Brittany.

Some information in this family tree is taken from the book, "From Riches to Rags to Respectability - a Fontaine Family," written by Winston F. Fontaine and published for the author by Alabama Ancestors, Mobile, Alabama, 1987, and is submitted with the permission of the author. Included are minor corrections and updated information.

Jean married Buyonne de Monthibault in 1323/1399. Buyonne was born about 1375 in FRA.

They had the following children:
