The See family is of German orgin. Three brothers Adam, George and Michael with seven sisters, all raised in Hardy County, Va.

Adam continued to reside in the Shenandoah Valley, here his three sons grew up and married. One of these sons named George was born Abt. 1755. It is told that in the Summer of 1785 him and one of his sons were out in the field stacking hay when a thunder storm came up. They took refuge under the side of a haystack. A bolt of lighting struck and killed both of them. It only stunned a negro refugee under the stack of hay. A grandson wrote about this sad occurance in latter years.
